Bonnaroo post follow up

Whenever i go I will keep all of my blog followers updated the best i can, it may be hard to do it as it is going on because i will be in a tent for 4 days but if i can find some portable power solution i can bring my laptop along and use my phone as a modem. If any of my readers are planning on going this year, let me know and we can go see a show together.

There will also be comemdians at the event, the list for the commedians have not been relased yet but i will keep everyone updated as i get more info.

Bonnaroo

I am considereing going to bonnaroo, Primus will be there and that alone is enough to make me want to go. I was wondering if anyone that reads my blog has ever been to it or heard anything about it. I think it sounds like a great experence that i would like to be a part of.

From what I understand it is a 4 day concert festival that has been going on for 10 years, it is on a 700 acre farm in Manchester, TN.

New intel 1000 core processor

I was recently talking with one of my teachers, and he was talking about a new processor that intel was doing some experemental work with that had 1000 cores. Hearing this my jaw dropped. a processor with 1000 cores? can it be true? my first thought was really, how long before i can have it? i am not too sure how fast each core is, but with 1000 cores, they can lack somewhat in the speed and i will not be offended.

This new processor is actuially more power efficent than most modern processors because it spends more time idly sitting and less time processing information. This is an interesting concept but i cannot see a use for my own personal use, considering i have a quad core and i barely use that on a daily basis.

School this semester

My school this semester isnt too bad, i have 18 hours this semester, and most of it is Computer based classes. It is nice to actuially have classes that will help me in what i wish to do or a career instead of general courses. Although they are all good classes there is one, my principals of information systems class. the materal is all bullshit i have not learned anything to do with an information system but how they are used in the business world, i do not have a need for how they help people on the business world. on my last test there was a question dealing with terrorists... Why do i need to know what the terrorists are doing for my information system? if it was cyber terrorists then i would be concerned but it was physical violence they were talking about. meh maybe im over thinking this but thats just my thought.

meh... v-day

Well today is valenties day, single for another, but the least i can do is make it easier for those that do not have anyone, assuming they even care. I will leave off with this picture that will pretty much explain my feelings for this day

TO all of those that do not know what a mineral oil computer is

A mineral oil computer is the term used to describe a computer housed in a fish tank that is then filled with mineral oil,. all componets are placed in the oil with the exception of the Hard drive and the Optical drive (dvd drive) because they would have issued operating in oil. but all componets of the computer operate just fine in the oil and possibly better.

Mineral oil PC/Server

will have to go on hold sadly, being a college student money is a bit tight at the monent, but as soon as i get the cash i will make that sucker and post as much info as i can about it. I am excited for this!

Today, with the possibility of a mineral oil computer

Feeling much better, i may be headded to the store do begin the materal shopping for for a mineral oil computer, it will run either windows server 2003 or Red hat server some sort.

I already have some of the materals but the list i need to fill is

• Spare computer parts (already have decent build ready)
• 5 gallon fish tank
• 5 gallons of mineral oil
• some loose standoffs and a small piece of clear plastic materal i can mount the motherboard to
• some waterproof glue or calk.

Will update blog with pictures and videos of the constructuion of this, once i obtain the funds to go through with this

Its not the flu

I am sick, but the doctor says that it is not the flu. thats a good sign but odd because im pretty sure i got what my mother had and she had the flu, i was around her the day before i started feeling bad. meh i guess thats why im not a doctor and they are.

I haz the flu!!

i went home to see my family this previous weekend and came back with the flu, atleast i got to see my family. I also got to see that one lady mess up the national anthem trollface.jpg

meh, its time to do some homework then go to sleep for a while and get over this damn flu!

Possibility of a Mineral Oil server

I am considering construcing a server housed in a tank of mineral oil, if i do proceed i will post all of the details on here along with instructions of what i did, pictures, and even a video.

1St real post

My name is Jacob Lilly, i attend WVU-P for my ccnp degree in network security. I currently attend college for 18 hours and work a full time job, it is a full schedule but it will pay off someday. When i graduate I hope to obtain a job as a network administrator for almost any company assuming that the pay is there. I also in my spare time fix peoples computers for minor fees, more something as a public service than a money making operation Since i do not charge very much, i usually service those peoples computers who are poor and need their computers for their every day life and could not afford another solutuon.
